Infertility | Why Britain Is Suffering From Infertility So Badly?
Infertility is affecting Britain very badly. According to a recent report, it has been found that at least one in eight women is being diagnosed with infertility and one in ten men are being diagnosed with infertility. According to the finding which shows that the prevalence of infertility was highest among those women who are under the age group of 35 to 44 and men aged 35 to 54. It has been recorded that almost one third of women who got pregnant and became mother at the age of 35 and above have experienced a long journey of infertility compared to those women who became mother before the age of 25. Further, it has been also found that the case of infertility is more common among those men and women who have higher socio economic stats like women holding a university degree and both men and women in managerial, professional or technical employment compared to those people who have lower socio economic status.
However, women aged of 50 or below but experienced the pain of infertility has more common symptoms like depression and feeling dissatisfaction with their sex life than those who have no fertility problems. According to researchers, these associations were not observed for men.
Jessica Datta, Lecturer at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and led researcher said that we were surprised that almost half of the people in our study who had experienced infertility had not sought medical help. Jessica Datta’s team surveyed 15,000 adults in Britain and fond, men and women who reported infertility, almost 42.7% of women and 46.8% of men did not seek any medical help to get out of their problem. Study researchers explained the possible reason of seeking help to treat infertility and no seeking medical help to cure infertility. According to researchers, people who suffered from infertility and struggled for a long time to start their family but did not seek any medical help for their fertility because of lack of understanding or acknowledging that a problem exists, fear of being labeled infertile, concerns about the cost of treatment, the physical and psychological burden of treatment, or simply not wanting to get pregnant.
