Infertility | Vitamin D deficiency may be the reason of Infertility | Dubai

Vitamin d and fertilityInfertility in young couples has become a growing phenomenon, and we’re seeing many people below the age of 30 are going for Assisted Reproductive Techniques said Dr Magray. Dr Shazia Magray, is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology at Bourn Hall Fertility Centre, Dubai. Dr Magray has treated Josephine Peralta, who was found vitamin D deficient with Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome (PCOS) and hypothyroidism when she was aged 25. The couple were trying to get conceive since many years and they tried everything which can help them to get pregnant naturally but they failed without success. After years of trying and various failed treatments, eventually they decided to opt for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at Bourn Hall Fertility Centre, Dubai. After the first in vitro fertilization (IVF), she gave birth at the age of 31 to a baby girl.

infertility causesVitamin D deficiency is a biggest contributor in infertility. Dr Shazia Magray, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology at Bourn Hall Fertility Centre, Dubai said that according to the International Osteoporosis Federation “the warning is especially relevant to the people of UAE, where more than 90 per cent of residents are suffering from vitamin D deficiency and infertility.

According to, Dr Magray, who treated Peralta, said “Almost 30 to 40 per cent of infertility cases are unexplained because there is no obvious causes have found but among the causes that can be diagnosed, we’ve found PCOS is the quite common cause and  it has a direct impact on the quality of eggs. Dr Magray also added that: “However, another big contributing player of the infertility that most people are unaware of is Vitamin D deficiency. The deficiency of Vitamin D results in poor reproductive forecast both in cases of natural conception and assisted reproductive technology.”

ways-to-improve-fertilityMany studies and research has been done on the link of vitamin D deficiency and infertility. Several studies have forged a strong relationship between vitamin D deficiency and infertility, particularly with respect to in vitro fertilization (IVF) failure, according to the centre. The most active form of Vitamin D is calcitriol. It not just controls the estrogen content in a woman, but many other genes that are involved in embryo implantation.

Moreover, the vitamin D helps in fighting infections during pregnancy. Vitamin D supplementation also contributes to egg cell maturation in women who are suffering from PCOS while its deficiency worsens the hormonal imbalance which makes them prone to miscarriage. Lack of vitamin D can result in complications, such as gestational hypertension and diabetes. Further, research data presented last year suggests that link between vitamin D deficiency and poor semen quality, testosterone levels.

get pregnantHowever, couples who are looking to start a family need to be in an optimal state of vitamin D, including those couple also that are opting for in vitro fertilization (IVF). So, if you want to increase the success rate of in vitro fertilization (IVF), you must check your Vitamin D level. Higher vitamin D levels in couples significantly improve the in vitro fertilization (IVF) rate of success compared to those with lower levels. Sufficient intake also helps produce high-quality eggs during in vitro fertilization (IVF). For more information on how to get pregnant faster and naturally please visit the official website.

Pregnancy wellness tips | what are the health risks of flying and how to manage?

flying-while-pregnantPregnant passengers often get conflicting information like what are the risks of flying from friends and family with airline restrictions. According to Brisbane obstetrician Dr Will Milford, while there are some special things that you should take into consideration. Dr Will Milford says flying while pregnant carries very little additional risk. Flying does not have any effect on the pregnancy. A pregnant woman cannot get into labor or break the waters from flying. What airlines are worried about is a woman giving birth on the plane and the risks increases as the date gets close to the due date.

Rules of airlines:

The rules of restriction of flying for pregnant woman are varying from airline to airline and it also depends on the length of the flight.

Health risks from lying:

Dr Milford says DVT or Deep vein thrombosis is the main health concern. This is when a blood clot forms in a deep vein of the leg, which can cause complications such as pain, inflammation and swelling.  The greater danger with these clots is that they can dislodge and travel through the circulatory system, blocking blood supply to the lungs. The risk of DVT is increases when pregnant and being immobile for long periods is also a risk factor, so it’s worth keeping in mind for any sort of travel, including long car trips.

Tips to avoid DVT:

The things Dr Milford suggests to reduce that risk is to make sure you’re well hydrated, to make sure you’re well mobilized during the flight and to wear compression stockings. He adds in a very rare case, women with a higher risk of clotting may be on special medication to guard against this, but this would be part of an ongoing conversation with a doctor regardless of travel plans.

How cosmic radiation affects:

Cosmic radiation comes in the form of high-energy particles from outer space. At ground level, protected by Earth’s thick atmosphere, our exposure is very low but it increases at altitude. According to Dr Milfor the pregnant woman who flies very occasionally, it shouldn’t be a consideration. He says the affect of radiation is really very low if you get single flight. Very frequent flyers — like flight crew or some business travelers — have higher levels of exposure, but even then, 100 hours in the air only presents a “very small theoretical risk”, and still less than other radiation sources people might encounter on the ground.

Tips for flying during pregnancy:

  • Get a letter from your health provider as per your airline’s requirements
  • Reduce the risk of DVT by staying well hydrated, staying mobile during the flight and wearing compression stockings
  • Make sure your travel insurance covers pregnancy-related conditions, just in case something does happen while you’re away
  • Carry a hard copy of your pregnancy summary with you when you travel, just in case you need medical treatment during your trip.

Dr Milford says “The major thing is emphasizing that pregnancy isn’t a disease,” During pregnancy also you’re just as healthy as you normally are.

The most common 8 myths about infertility

How 25 millions of women in U.S.A have no access of Infertility treatment?

Infertility treatment| First and most awaited treatment for male infertility

male infertilityInfertility is one of the significant problems, which is currently affecting tens of millions of couples worldwide. In those tens of millions of couples, around half of cases having a male factor either as a sole or contributory cause. As of now, we know that the most important reason of male infertility is asthenozoospermia which means poor/dysfunctional sperm motility. As it is a main cause of male infertility but still there is no drug that men can currently take for it to improve the chances of conception.

get pregnantInfertile couples who are trying for years to get pregnant naturally, has to rely on clinical treatments such as In vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). These both treatments are very much expensive, invasive and are not guaranteed to provide you satisfactory result.

While there is clearly an unmet need for alternative treatments for male sub fertility, so the time, efforts and resources required for drug discovery are currently exorbitant. The cellular, physical and functional properties of human spermatozoa present unique challenges to researchers and the lack of an appropriate platform to analyze potential treatments further complicates the issue. However, Scientists from the University of Dundee believe that they have taken the first steps towards developing drugs to treat infertile men.

What is HTS?

The Dundee team scientist have developed and validated a high throughput screening (HTS) method that may help to find novel agents that improve sperm function.HTS (high throughput screening) automates the experimentation process to allow researchers to quickly identify active compounds, antibodies, or genes relevant to their work. As of now, while a cure for male infertility remains some way off. The Dundee team researchers, led by Dr Sarah Martins da Silva, believe their method has removed many of the barriers towards developing drugs to treat the condition of inability of getting pregnant in men.

how to get pregnantDr Martins da Silva says that as infertility is developing day by day and male infertility is incredibly common but there is nothing we can currently prescribe in the vast majority of cases. The main problem is that we really don’t know the exact answer how to correct sperm dysfunction either. Other issue is that sperm are absolutely unique cells, designed to survive outside the body and hugely specialized to swim, find and fertilize an egg. They are small and have virtually no cytoplasm, and the cell signaling pathways can be unlike other cells. As a result, sperm are incredibly challenging to study. We believe we have now taken the first steps towards helping millions of couples worldwide.

As we all know that alterations in intracellular calcium are fundamental to sperm function which include swimming and fertilization, and that fluctuations in calcium are due, in large part, to a sperm-specific channel named CatSper (Cation channel of sperm). So, with the lack of knowledge of a known specific molecular or receptor target, compound library high-throughput screening (HTS) is an alternative approach that has developed in recent decades.

getting pregnantHowever, Dr Martins da Silva and her colleagues worked with the University’s Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) to create a high-throughput assay platform to monitor intracellular calcium responses in sperm as a surrogate for sperm motility. Dr Martins da Silva says that it enabled us to identify hit compounds, which we were able to test on sperm and saw improved functional motility. We noticed enhanced functional motility when we tested two of the compounds on patient samples, which are exciting and hugely relevant for patients, albeit this is still very early days. As sperm-specific channel named CatSper (Cation channel of sperm) is unique to sperm, identifying a therapeutic compound for it potentially avoids systemic side-effects and making these candidates very attractive both clinically and commercially. After conclusion that high-throughput screening (HTS) can robustly and efficiently identify novel compounds that increase intracellular calcium in human spermatozoa and improve function, the researchers propose to use it as a cornerstone to drive forward drug discovery for male sub-fertility. This news was published online by the Human Reproduction journal.

Sperm quality and infertility

pregnancy-miracleAccording to a research, it has been found that there are various exercise regimens which can affect on overall sperm quality. This observation was published in the journal “Reproduction”. It has been found that 1 out of 6 couples gets difficulties in getting pregnant due to any type of male or female infertility and 1 in 3 couples find themselves unable to get pregnant just because of poor semen quality. These couples who are going through the infertility phase due to poor semen quality, has only in vitro fertilization (IVF) option as the solution of their childless life. Poor quality of sperm leads to increase the risk of miscarriage, birth defects, and childhood cancer. So here are some natural and most effective ways are given which will help you increase sperm quality for the sake of your health and well being of current and future generations.

infertilityGenerally, in order to improve sperm quality advice given to men are eating well, reduction of alcohol consumption, no smoking and regular exercise. Anyway, these are the standard mantra but according to some evidence, the impact of exercise on sperm quality has been contradictory. Some studies shows that that intense exercising such as endurance cycling and long-distance running can reduce the quality of sperm but some other studies have found that certain types and duration of exercise have a positive impact on sperm quality. According to a team of scientists, from Uremia University in Iran, set out to investigate the effects of exercise intensity on a range of sperm parameters. They included 261 healthy men, aged 25-40, in the study. At baseline, none of the men followed a regular exercise plan or did more than 25 minutes of exercise more than 3 days each week. These men were split into four experimental groups:

  • Moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) – running on a treadmill for 25-30 minutes, 3-4 days per week
  • High-intensity continuous training (HICT) – running on a treadmill for 50 minutes-1 hour, 3-4 days per week
  • High-intensity interval training (HIIT) – 1-minute bursts of treadmill sprinting followed by 1 minute of recovery, repeated 10-15 times
  • Control group – no exercise.get pregnant

The each routine was followed for 24 weeks. Semen samples were evaluated before, during, and after the exercise period to assess sperm count, motility (the ability of the sperm to move), morphology (size and shape), levels of inflammatory markers, and their response to oxidative stress. The role of oxidative stress – specifically reactive oxygen species – is a growing area of focus in fertility research. Although reactive oxygen species are vital in the fertilization process under normal conditions, if they are not under tight physiological control, they can negatively impact the overall quality of sperm.how to get pregnant

Exercise impact on semen quality

All exercise groups, when compared with the control group had improved sperm quality across all measures. The best performing of the three experimental groups was the MICT exercise group when compared with the control group. The men in MICT group had:

  • 8.3 percent more semen volume
  • 12.4 percent higher sperm motility
  • 17.1 percent improved sperm cell shape/morphology
  • 14.1 percent more concentrated sperm
  • 21.8 percent more sperm cells.getting pregnant

These results are impressive, but the changes were not long term. Measures of sperm count, shape, and concentration dipped back toward pre-training levels 1 week after the exercise regimen had ended; sperm motility dropped back after 30 days. However, according to the authors, loss of weight during the exercise plan might well have been an important factor in the improvement of sperm quality. They also believe that MICT had a particularly positive effect by reducing the teste’s exposure to inflammatory agents and oxidative stress. The next step for the Iranian scientist’s team will be to see if these measurable changes in sperm quality will translate into an increased ability to fertilize. As further research is conducted to back up these findings, in the future, sperm-specific training packages could hopefully be designed, raising the chances of fertilization without medical intervention. The lead author of this study Behzad Hajizadeh Maleki says that “Our results show that doing exercise can be a simple, cheap, and effective strategy for improving sperm quality in sedentary men. However, it’s important to acknowledge that the reason some men can’t have children isn’t just based on their sperm count. So, first you need to diagnose what exactly you have the problem and then after try to solve it with the medical or natural help.

Infertility | How a blood test can protect you from Endometrial Ablation?

infertilityInfertility researchers have explained that every year 30 000 women in England and Wales age between 30 and 50 is being diagnosed by hysterectomy (surgical removal of the womb) or a procedure that called endometrial ablation, which burns away parts of the lining of the womb in order to end debilitating heavy monthly bleeding. Although, hysterectomy or surgical removal of the womb does not always leave a woman infertile for lifetime. It is not recommended for those women who want to have more children in future. According to experts, both ablation and hysterectomy are considered a last resort of this problem.

getting pregnantHowever, according to a ground breaking study, it has been carried out by specialists at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust suggests that approximately more than 20 per cent of these patients are suffering from the blood-clotting disorders. These women are getting the lack of blood protein which acts like glue to help cells clump together and form a clot, or the cells themselves called platelets may not be working properly. Women with this problem can be affected by the monthly cycle as tiny blood vessels in the womb bleed profusely and for a longer than normal time.

how to get pregnantPeople who have menorrhagia and blood-clotting disorders can suffer from iron deficiency and anemia, but women who have blood clotting issues may also suffer from easily bruise. They may have nose bleed, bleeding gums when they brush their teeth. Once a woman has established blood-clotting disorder, she has to suffer from a monthly dose of the blood-clotting drug tranexamic acid, normally in pill form, which may see hysterectomy or ablation avoided. Women who have blood-clotting disorders such as platelet dysfunction or von Willebrand disease may also be offered a drug called DDAVP, or desmopressin, which is administered as a monthly injection or nasal spray. But this treatment can be start only after diagnosis of a type of bleeding disorder. Women who have heavy periods but she is not diagnosed as bleeding disorder, the cause may remain unclear. In this type of case, only surgery could be the last option.

infertilityAccording to Dr Clare Samuelson, specialist registrar at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital Haemophilia and Throm-bosis Centre, who is leading the study funded by The Platelet Charity, yet there are no any routine tests for deficiency or dysfunction of blood-clotting proteins or for problems with platelet function, for women who are suffering with these problems. Dr Clare Samuelson says that we don’t yet have evidence that surgery can definitely be avoided by accurate diagnosis of a bleeding disorder but women could avoid complications of surgery. Women can avoid the surgery completely, if an underlying disorder is diagnosed and appropriately treated. So, if you are also one of them who are dealing with any of these problems, do not take it easily. Act now and go through the entire test that could save you from hysterectomy or endometrial ablation which may lead you to the childless life.

So, did you ever think that why it’s very common these days if we compare it with 2 decades ago time. Actually the main reason of today’s lifestyle. Our body is not any different today than they were 20 years ago but their stress levels are very different. The high levels of stress and tensions are combined with the ticking of the biological clock which sets the stage for infertility. Some time ago, ophthalmic technician who has the full time work, found herself difficulties in getting pregnant. She said that she was used to wake up early in the morning and going to bed later. It happened because she had to meet everyday demand. After seven years of getting married, she was not able to get pregnant naturally.

pregnancy-miracle-book-downloadInfertility specialist said that the reason of difficulties in getting pregnant is high levels or excessive stress and tensions. According to a recent study, which was published in the journal “Human Reproduction” found that women whose lifestyle is full of high levels of stress and tensions are more likely to get affected of infertility when compared to those women with less stress levels.

Stress and infertility

The link between stress and infertility are as that stress hormones suppresses the reproductive hormones in the body which leaves a negative effect on the reproductive system of women. Due to high levels of stress causes the disturbances in the hormonal pattern which adversely affects the fertility of women said an Indian doctor Dr. Srisailesh Vitthala, a specialist in reproductive medicine and fertility enhancement at Ovum Hospitals, Bengaluru, India. Dr Rajalakshmi TG, a gynecologist at Ramana Nursing Home in Chennai said that it has been found that women who have very stressful work schedule are more likely to get affected by reproductive health hazards including infertility and foetal loss. But she also added that the problem may not be permanent in nature.

get pregnantAccording to the National Family Health Survey of India, infertility rate is high among those women who are living in urban areas. According to this survey it has been also found that it may be due to lifestyle or a higher age of marriages. Significantly, the standard of living plays an inverse relationship on infertility rate. On the other hand, according to this survey found that working women have higher rate infertility. Dr S Pratibha, a gynecologist working with Chennai’s Iswarya Women’s Hospital and Fertility Center said that the higher the level of stress, the higher the chance of becoming infertile and, in some cases, sterile. “The issue with infertility and stress is that the latter is more than likely to affect a woman’s ability to conceive even after curing the physiological ailment that was preventing her from conceiving.

Get-Pregnant-FastHealth experts say that sleep pattern also plays the very important role. Now women have shift work timing which is drastically different on day today basis which can also impact fertility. “Women in the reproductive age group who work odd shifts are bound to go through hormonal fluctuations in the body that take a toll on their health. These women may tend to have issues in the future that correlate with difficulty in conceiving as their fertility is affected. Dr ED Joseph, a retired clinical psychologist from Kerala Government Health Services said that the higher level of education in women are increasing and their desire to prove themselves directly influences their need to conceive after getting married. Dr. Joseph says that wrong food choice is also responsible in infertility in women. It is common to have fast food such as biscuits and oily snacks when a person is stressed, which is not good for a woman in her reproductive age.

Dehydration is actually about the brain but people thinks, it about mouth and even though your mouth gets dry very often. Actually, brain cells need a steady supply of glucose and when your brain is bathed in overly concentrated sugar water, it will summon fluid from any source to dilute the uncomfortable fluid surrounding each cell. Your brain gets this fluid from other cells, which leads to dehydration. However, you urge to drink copious amounts of fluid as your body tries to overcome the lack of water. You are taking a longer time than normal in sitting in the bathroom because there is too much sugar in your blood and your kidneys are getting a serious sugar bath. And that’s because your kidneys are pulling extra water out of your blood to dilute all this sugar. As your kidneys continuously draw extra water out of your blood in an effort to dilute the sugar and all this water fills your bladder, and this sensation causes the urge to pee and you become thirsty again. Your kidneys do their best to eliminate excess glucose. The amount of protein spilling into the urine also increases with time, which interferes with normal kidney filtration. That’s when you start to feel the pain, numbness, tingling, itching, and other weird sensations that you may be experiencing.
  5. Blurred vision- If your blood glucose levels remain high, fluid may be pulled from your tissues for dilution purposes. It includes fluid from the lenses of your eyes. This may affect your ability to focus and teeny tiny capillaries that lead to your eyes become damaged from all the free radicals. Free radicals are damaging molecules that people with diabetes produce in alarming quantities.diabetes prevention
